Call for speakers: Smart City Expo World Congress

The Smart City Expo World Congress is an event that has been taken place every year since 2011, and it is an opportunity for urban thinkers to learn about the latest ideas about what the future might look like for our cities. It brings together public administrations, companies, entrepreneurs, researchers and citizens who inspire each other to make cities better through innovative solutions.

SCWEC 2017 will take place in Barcelona, on the 14th-16th of November. The organizers are looking for the most relevant contributions, innovative initiatives and solutions within the framework of sustainable, inclusive, equitable, safe, healthy and collaborative cities in their call for speakers.

Every year, the best urban projects are recipients of the Smart City Awards, in three categories: the City Award, the Project Award and the Innovative Global South Award, which in 2016 went to New York, Vienna and Nairobi.

The main areas of expertise that will be covered during this year’s Congress are:

More specific keywords related to each of the 2017 main tracks can be found in the full Call for Speakers document.

The speakers they are looking for can have many types of backgrounds as long as they have a clear vision for urban development, including entrepreneurs, startuppers, social innovators, research centers, universities, public or non-governmental organizations, consortiums (public-private), social activists, researchers.

If you don’t necessarily want to participate as a speaker but instead find the best way to showcase your project, the Smart City Expo World Congress offers you a variety of options for taking part in the exhibition – these can be found here, along with prices and conditions for each option.

You can also attend the Congress simply as a visitor, as it is a valuable experience through which you can discover new projects, network with professionals and see things from different perspectives – click here for visitor registration.
